Time-saving shortcuts to help when typing accents.
Problem: I don't know how to add accents to letters.
Solution: Learn some simple keyboard shortcuts.
1. I am using a Windows computer.
In Windows, adding an acute accent (Γ‘, Γ©, Γ, Γ³, ΓΊ) to a vowel is really straightforward. Simply hold down the AltGr key (to the right of the space bar) + the vowel you wish to add the accent to. For example: AltGr+e = Γ©.
For other accents and symbols, use the Windows + Period (.) on your keyboard to bring up the selection of symbols.
Alternatively, you can use Alt + numerical codes as listed here.
2. I am using a Mac.
On a Mac keyboard, simply hold down the letter you wish to add the accent to. This will bring up a selection of accents - simply press the number which corresponds to the accent you wish to add.
3. I am using a tablet or a phone.
Simply hold down the letter you wish to add an accent to and this will bring up options for you to choose from. Select the letter you need and boom! You're done.
