A step-by-step guide to getting started with The EverLearner PE Teacher Academy
Why do we need The EverLearner Academy?
The PE Teacher Academy is designed specifically for PE and Sport teachers and HOPE. It provides access to flexible, on-demand training, aligned to the demands of PE theory teaching.
What comes before?
To access the PE Teacher Academy lessons, you must be a Teacher, HoD or Admin on the site and have a PE Teacher Academy subscription.
Accessing the PE Teacher Academy
1) Log in to your EverLearner account and click on "PE Teacher Academy" in your top navigation bar.
2) From here, you will be given the option to add up to three courses. Teachers may study a maximum of three courses at a time.
3) To choose your courses, scroll down to the Course Area. From here, you can browse all courses, or you can filter by course area (PE Curriculum, PE Subject Knowledge, PE Cognitive Science, PE Pedagogy and PE Course Design and Assessment. You can study courses across course areas - pick 'n' mix!
4) If you wish to peruse the course before activating it, click "View course details". Note, lessons remain locked until the course is activated. You can also activate (or deactivate) a course from the course page.
5) When you're ready, simply activate/reactivate the course.
What does Academy learning look like?
The PE Teacher Academy follows a similar pattern to the main platform learning, with a few key distinctions.
1) Teachers can study a maximum of three courses at a time. To change courses, you must deactivate a course first, before you can activate a new one.
2) Teachers have tutorials to watch, but no practice or test mode (unlike in the student courses). Assessment is carried out through checkpoints only.
3) Progress is reported at the top of each active course page. You will see a percentage of total tutorial time completed, and percentage scores for any checkpoints taken (this will be the latest test score only).
4) Teachers can watch tutorials and take checkpoints as many times as they wish.
5) In order to complete and pass a course, teachers must have a total tutorial watch time of over 90% and a minimum score of over 80% on each checkpoint.
6) Once a course is completed, you may deactivate that course and start a new one. You may re-study this course again (take it again) at any point in the future and this will reset the course data for you.
Note: Records of achievement and certification are currently in development for the PE Teacher Academy.
